Board of Trustees Executive Officers President-ElectHISTORY PURPOSE AND DUTIES 2. The president-elect serves on the library planning committee to establish goals and priorities for the year and attends all meetings. 3. The president-elect is a member of the awards committee. 4. The president-elect jointly appoints the government relations chairperson with the president. 5. The president-elect, along with the president and the immediate past-president, should prepare a project for the coming year which will, when completed, represent an accomplishment for the association. A presentation will be made at the annual meeting. 6. The president-elect assumes the duties of president in any absence or disability of the president. 7. The president-elect represents the Nevada Library Association at the Annual Conference of the California Library Association which is held annually in December. The president-elect works with the president on choosing the speaker for the NLA/CLA dinner. 8. The president-elect includes the cost of the honorarium, travel and per diem for the NLA/CLA dinner in the office's budget request. (It is not to be expected that CLA supports any costs although each year a request should go to CLA asking for up to half of the costs). 9. The president-elect should request a minimum of one-half the travel expenses to attend the NLA/CLA dinner in the office's budget request. 10. The president-elect proposes a slate of appointments to the board of trustees at the annual meeting for approval. These appointed officers are installed on January 1st of the year the president-elect assumes the office of president. 11. After approval of the slate, the president-elect confers with the incoming chairperson of the finance committee and the executive secretary to assure the preparation of the budget for the coming year. The Immediate Past-President acts as an advisor to the President. 2. The Immediate Past-President is a voting member of the Board of Trustees. 3. The president, along with the president-elect and the past-president should prepare a project for the coming year which will when completed, represent an accomplishment for the association. A presentation will be made at the annual meeting. 4. The Past-President serves as a member of the Library Planning Committee. 5. The Past-President serves as a member of the Awards Committee. 6. The Past-President may plan a conference program or work jointly with
another committee or group to do so. |
