LIBRARY JOURNAL’S MOVERS & SHAKERS TO OFFER PAY EQUITY PROGRAM DURING NEVADA LIBRARY CONFERENCE

Henderson, NV—The Nevada Library Association’s (NLA) 58th Annual Conference, being held August 11 – 14, 2004 at the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort, is hosting two of Library Journal’s Movers & Shakers, Mary George, head of Children’s Services of the Placer County (California) Library, and Christopher Christman, Placer County Law Librarian, who will present “Fighting for Fair Pay: A Practical Approach” on Thursday, August 12.

Dani Porter, Development Director of the UNLV Libraries and fellow 2003 Mover & Shaker, is pleased to welcome two top library salary advocates to Nevada: “Mary and Christopher will illustrate how fair pay for all library workers can be achieved through research, collaboration and persistence.”

While the association of George and Christman made for a winning team in their California county’s library pay battle, Christman, who holds a law degree from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific, will share relevant research from Nevada’s books.
