Of
course, the purpose of the President's Award Dinner is to bestow awards on the
best, the brightest, the hardest working and loyal of the Nevada library
world!
Pictured at right is Chuck
Manley, who for many years served as the Associate Director of the Washoe
County Library System. Recently
retired, he was honored with the coveted Librarian of the Year Award for his
many years of service to the Nevada Library Association and the Nevada library
community.

Kinsey, retired Youth Services Coordinator from the Washoe County Library
System. Monteria Hightower had
just presented Sally with a special citation acknowledging her many years of
service to the library and the community.

Another
highlight of the conference is the Nevada Young Readers Award celebration and
luncheon, and this year's event was highly successful. One-hundred-forty-eight librarians,
teachers, and students had lunch with one of their favorite authors, Dan
Gutman, whose "Virtually Perfect" was voted a winner by Nevada's
young readers. Dan pictured at

Wrapping
up the conference on Saturday was an open house at the Northwest Library. Conference goers got the chance
to relax and have some fun while touring this new library branch of the Washoe
County Library System. Music was
provided by the trio Shiloh, whose bluegrass/folk interpretation of favorite
songs had some of the crowd up on their feet and dancing! Sorry, no pictures of that! It was a delightful evening.
Many
people were involved in the planning and implementation of this conference. I would like to thank again our
hard-working committee: Maggie
Ressel (Program Chair), Janita Jobe (Local Arrangements), Leona Wright
(Exhibits), Sally Kinsey (Registration), and Linda Wilson (Publicity). They, along with many others,
contributed to a very successful conference.
